Deltas ready for softball eliminators

FRANCISTOWN: Six northern zone teams take to the mound in Maun this weekend to battle it out in the qualifiers for the annual Selebi-Phikwe extravaganza tournament. The two-day eliminators begin on Saturday morning at the Maun Sports Complex and the Maun Technical College softball grounds.

The main tournament will take place in Selebi-Phikwe over the President’s Day holidays with men and women’s defending champions, BDF IX and Dinare qualifying automatically alongside hosts, Phikwe Comets.

The hosts for the eliminators, Maun Deltas, relatively a new side began competing in the softball league last season and the team has proved competitive in the northern region. In their maiden league appearance, the inexperienced Maun side finished sixth out of 11 teams in their region and 14th out of 22 teams nationally.
