Defining moment for Notwane, Santos

Former League and Coca-Cola Cup champions, Notwane face a make or break week in the be MOBILE Premier League with the dreaded axe hovering over their heads. Notwane are playing their last match of the season against Extension Gunners on Monday at SSKB Stadium. Their chance of survival is now in the hands of another relegation candidate, Uniao Flamengo Santos.

Santos is playing BDF XI on the same day at Molepolole Sports Complex and a victory for the Gabane side would see Notwane drop to the lower division. Both Notwane and Santos are eyeing the remaining spot with FC Satmos and Great North Tigers (GNT) already gone. Notwane are 14th with 26 points after 29 games, while Santos are 13th with 28 points and two games remaining.

A decision on the aborted game between Santos and Mogoditshane Fighters is pending. Fighters failed to pitch up at Lobatse Stadium and the matter was referred to the Botswana Premier League (BPL) prosecutor, Tshiamo Rantao. The Disciplinary Committee sat last Wednesday, but could not reach a conclusion. It will now make a decision next Wednesday. Should a decision be taken to be re-scheduled, Santos would still have a chance to secure their stay in the league.
