The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) chairperson will co-opt members for the positions of treasurer and additional members in the absence of nominations for the two positions. The BNSC holds its Annual General Meeting in Lobatse on July 20.

Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thato Kgosimore said, at the close of nominations, there had been no name submitted for the post of treasurer while the person submitted for additional member was disqualified. Boitshoko Tsiane is the current treasurer and is unavailable for re-election. Kgosimore said the additional member submission was disqualified because in nominating the person affiliates did not adhere to set criteria.  Additional member Ookeditse Malesu's name had been proposed for the same position.

Dabilani Buthali's name was proposed for the vice chairperson position but the nomination failed. His name was submitted alongside that of vice-chairperson Martin Mokgwathi.  Mokgwathi had been submitted for the same position. As for the position of treasurer Kgosimore, who is also the elections director, was shocked as to why members failed to suggest a name. "To my knowledge it is the first time that we have experienced something like this," he told Mmegi Sport.
