Deadlock as Gunners, TASC waste chances

Lobtrans Gunners and TASC squandered several opportunities before settling for a 1-1 draw in a Mascom Premier League match at the Lobatse Stadium on Sunday.

After pulling some impressive results in the last three games, Gunners were a different side against the visiting TASC. Gunners coach Clever Hunda admitted that his charges did not express themselves well on the day. He attributed the performance to the players' strike over payment early last week. "The strike affected us and the players should know that such things (strike) do not help. They should concentrate on football and leave other issues to the management. If you assessed our play today, we were not comfortable on the ball," he said. Hunda added that they play every game like a cup final because their supporters want positive results. "It is good for the supporters to expect a win and I would like to urge them to continue rallying behind the team," he said. Hunda promised that they will work hard this week in preparation for the game against newly promoted Mogoditshane Fighters at the Lobatse Stadium on Sunday. "It will not be an easy game for us as Fighters have a fighting spirit," asserted the coach.

After narrowly beating Township Rollers the previous weekend, TASC were favourites to overcome Gunners. But the Tango Boys failed to grab maximum points and were forced to come from behind to force a draw. TASC coach Mothusi Seditse said that they came into the game knowing that Gunners have been doing well. "We knew that we could take advantage of their awful defence but unfortunately, we could not convert the chances we created. The other problem is that we took long to settle in the game," he said.
