Dawn of a new era as football returns to Modipane

It has been over a decade since competitive league football was played in the village of Modipane in the Kgatleng District and the promotion of Modipane United to the First Division should usher in a new era.

The last team to play in the First Division league was the then mighty Black Mambas who were relegated in 1996 following squabbles among management officials and this time it is its breakaway team, MU that is expected to carry the football dreams of the soccer-mad community.

Coach Fannie Mathibe believes his young charges will perform beyond the fans' expectations and has warned opponents underestimating his team that they would be doing so at their own peril.
