D-Day for Olopeng as Mmui awaits fate

Suspended First Division North chairman, Eatametse Olopeng has been summoned to appear before the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Disciplinary Committee for his hearing tomorrow.

Olopeng's suspension last October was linked to the issue of registration fees that saw former Premiership side Police XI and newcomers Security Systems get the boot from topflight league action.Olopeng is alleged to have testified against the BFA in a case pitting Police XI and the country's football mother body.He confirmed yesterday to Mmegi Sport that he had received a letter by post notifying him of the hearing date. The initial hearing date was set for May 2, but was moved after he wrote to the association inquiring why he was not furnished with all necessary documentation to prepare for the case.

"I don't even know what is happening, they wrote to me in April and summoned me to appear on May 02.They said the case could start and I wrote to them saying I was waiting for the relevant documentation. When somebody is appearing he must be furnished with all the necessary documentation. So up to now I have never received any correspondence whether they received that particular letter," Olopeng said.He confirmed receiving this week's letter, further querying why documents outlining the case were still not enclosed. "This week I was given a letter by post summoning me to appear on Saturday 6th," he said.
