Following the disappointment of their failure to be promoted to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Division Six league, Botswana has turned its attention to the Africa Division Two T20 league where it is well poised to take one of the two promotion berths.

The top seeds were second going into yesterday's match against leaders, Nigeria. Botswana prior to their clash against Nigeria, had won all their opening three matches and look a safe bet for promotion to Division One.

Botswana played Nigeria in a top of the table-clash yesterday afternoon. On the opening day of the tournament, Botswana accounted for both Mozambique and Rwanda before beating Swaziland on Sunday. Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania pose a serious threat to Botswana's promotion bid. The national team has been ruthless, crushing Swaziland by nine wickets and then romping to a seven-wicket victory over Rwanda. Mozambique put up a spirited fight against Botswana before losing by five wickets on Saturday. The nine-team league ends on May 20 with a final between the top two sides, who will then proceed to the Africa Division Two league to be played in Kampala, Uganda, in July.
