The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed with costs a bid to overturn a High Court ruling that BMC Football Club belongs to the Social Welfare Club of the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC).

The football club led by former chairperson, Sonny Phiri moved to the Court Appeal arguing that the club had been formed by the community and did not belong to the meat parastatal.

However, Ian Kirby and two Appeal Court judges, Seth Twum and Craig Howie said the applicants had omitted the fact that in July last year, the football club was registered at the Registrar of Societies only to be deregistered in September the same year.
