Comets appeal to be heard today

After failing to meet on Monday, the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Disciplinary Committee meets today to hear an appeal challenging the decision to order Jwaneng Comets and Miscellaneous to play each other again to decide who qualifies for the Premier League.

The appeal was filed by Comets, who topped the promotion play-offs but missed the boat when their 12-1 win over Mogoditshane Fighters was nullified. While Comets believe they were supposed to be promoted to the be MOBILE Premier League, Miscellaneous say they should have been declared the winners after the Fighters-Comets game was nullified.

Comets filed a protest arguing that there was no need for a decider against Miscellaneous whom they had beaten on goal difference. The case was scheduled to be heard on Monday but was postponed when the Disciplinary Committee failed to form a quorum.  Play-offs organising committee chairman, Charles Chilisa refused to talk about Monday's postponement and referred queries to BFA chief executive officer, Mooketsi 'Tosh' Kgotlele. "We were still preparing some things and we could not proceed with the case as the committee did not form the required quorum but I can tell you the case will be heard tomorrow (today) evening," Kgotlele said.
