Coke Cup final to be played in Lobatse

Despite repeated objections from Motlakase Power Dynamos, the 20th edition of the Coca-Cola Cup final will be played in Extension Gunners' backyard in Lobatse.

Local Organising Committee (LOC) official Gaolathe Kelesitse told a media briefing in Gaborone yesterday that the final would be played at the new Lobatse Stadium.

He emphasised that it had been planned long before the finalists were decided that the final would be played in Lobatse. "This has long been set. We were looking for a venue that is big enough to accommodate the spectators while at the same time conducive enough to give the sponsor mileage and we only had the Lobatse Sports Complex. UB Stadium is closed for renovations, and from our past experiences the venue is small in terms of capacity, even the Molepolole Sports Complex is a small venue," Kelesitse explained.
