Club officials miss Bosele Declaration workshop

The delayed implementation of the Bosele Declaration suffered another set-back over the weekend when soccer officials gave a wide berth to the Botswana Premier League (BPL) workshop meant to discuss the roadmap.

The workshop was aimed at reviewing progress in the implementation of the blue print designed to fully professionalise the local game. Only four chairmen of Premier League clubs attended the workshop to the disappointment of the facilitator and FIFA Development Officer, Ashford Mamelodi. "Chairmen must see to it that the secretariat is functioning, they are the watchdog of the league. FIFA wants to assist but we can only do that if clubs assist themselves. They (chairmen) have shown lack of commitment," Mamelodi said.

Concerns were raised at the workshop that less than 12 months before the deadline for achievement of targets in the Bosele Declaration, most resolutions made in Selebi-Phikwe in 2008 are yet to be implemented.
