A delegation from the Nantong Municipal Council of China donated table tennis equipment to Mophane Primary School in Block Five, Gaborone, on Thursday. The donation of five tables, bats and balls came under Nantong's twinning relationship with Gaborone.

A representative of the Chinese embassy in Botswana, Zhou Zhigang handed over the equipment to the primary school. "Table tennis is one of the biggest sports in China, and we felt we can help the sport grow here as well. Botswana is capable of producing world class players, and this equipment will make this possible," Zhou said.

He thanked two brothers, Huang Yaohong and Huang Yaoqun from Nantong for the donation. Zhou told Chinese people to continue making donations to Botswana. He pointed out that this was not the first time the Nantong people helped the primary school. Early this year, Nantong gave 20,000 to the primary school to buy a photocopier and a computer.
