PALAPYE: Mochudi Centre Chiefs was made to sweat before they knocked out a stubborn First Division side Motlakase from the Coca-Cola Cup at the Swallows Ground on Sunday.

The minnows matched the national champions pound for pound and threatened to take the lead on several occasions. Hence it was a big relief for Chiefs when Othusitse 'Jabu' Pilane broke the deadlock in the 35th minute. In the end, it was the quality and patience of Magosi that prevailed against a hard-fighting Motlakase. Chiefs seem to be perfecting their act as they rarely panic even under pressure. They seem to know how and when to deliver the sucker punch - a hallmark of champions.

It was Motlakase who created the most chances in the match but still Chiefs ran away with a 2-0 victory. Unless the First Division side scored, it looked like the first half was going to end in a 0-0 deadlock. But things changed when Oteng Moalosi eluded his marker and fed Pilane a killer pass in the box. The stocky midfielder finished with a thunderous shot. Motlakase tried to come to terms in the second half but again, Moalosi who had an average game eluded his marker to head home the second goal from a cross by Tshepo 'Talk Talk' Motlabankwe. After Motlakase lost Ame Ketlhamile for a second bookable offence, Magosi started show-boating.
