Chiefs face test of strength

FRANCISTOWN: Pace setters Mochudi Centre Chiefs face a major test of strength tomorrow when they meet defending champions ECCO City Greens in a crucial Mascom Premier League at the UB Stadium.

There is no love lost between the two sides following a bitter rivalry last season when ECCO not only humiliated Chiefs twice in the Premier League but dashed their hopes of a first ever title. The Francistown upstarts ran away with the league title as Chiefs finish second and agonise over another missed opportunity to land a major diadem. However, the stakes are different this year with Chiefs launching a sustained march that has left them as the only unbeaten side in the league after overcoming some of their strongest rivals. When the two sides meet tomorrow, Chiefs will be out to keep its unbeaten record intact and revenge the two painful defeats and the heartbreak in the title race last season.

The game between the two top sides last season has set tongues wagging. Magosi are yet to lose a game and lead the pack with 30 points from 12 outings but they must be wary of ECCO. Though the Francistown side is lying fifth with 15 points and is no longer the force it was last season, it cannot be taken lightly.
