Chiefs edge closer to title

Mochudi Centre Chiefs are now in pole position to retain their be MOBILE Premier League title following another victory over the weekend. Chiefs defeated relegated side, BR Highlanders 1-0 at Molepolole Sports Complex on Friday.

Their closet title rivals, Nico United dropped points once again when they drew 1-1 against Prisons XI on Saturday.Chiefs have now opened a three-point lead at the top with five matches remaining. They now need to collect seven points from the remaining five matches, which will take them to an unassailable 63 points. Nico United can only finish at 62 points if they win all their remaining three matches. Chiefs are yet to play Extension Gunners, Miscellaneous, Mogoditshane Fighters, Prisons XI and BMC. Nico on the other hand are to play Gaborone United (GU), Gunners and Motlakase Power Dynamos in the remaining matches.

GU and BDF XI also fell behind in the title race after registering disappointing results over the weekend. GU played to a goalless draw against Miscellaneous while BDF XI lost 1-0 to Township Rollers on Sunday. GU dropped to position four while BDF XI moved to position five. ECCO were the biggest movers in the top half, moving from position five to position three. They hammered Mogoditshane Fighters 6-1 in one of the biggest results this season. Only three points separate them from second placed Nico United with three games left.
