Chiefs crash out of Coke Cup

BMC produced a sterling performance to beat the expensively assembled Mochudi Centre Chiefs 4-2 on penalties in the last Coca-Cola Cup quarterfinal game played before a packed Lobatse Stadium on Sunday. Both sides failed to score in regulation time but BMC proved the better side in the shoot-out to join defending champions Notwane, upstarts Boteti Young Fighters and Premier League champions ECCO City Greens in the last four.

The man of the match was midfielder Bobo Motlhalane of BMC who was outstanding against top names like Zebras' workhorse Tshepo 'Talk-Talk' Motlhabankwe and Othusitse 'Jabu' Pilane. The nippy former Jwaneng Comets' midfielder was never intimidated by his more illustrious opponents.

At one stage during the game, one Chiefs' supporter shouted:  "Ga le ka ntsha wa number three le tlabo le berekile (if you can substitute number three (Motlhalane), that would be good)". Since his arrival from Comets, Motlhalane has fitted very well in the BMC system. His combination with the evergreen Modise '10-10' Motswadi is superb.
At the rear, BMC's no-nonsense defender Tumisang Sekanonyana frustrated Chiefs' captain Pontsho Moloi. But the defender was lucky not to be sent off by referee Israel Malepa for some reckless challenges on Moloi. He must avoid rash tackles in dangerous areas.
