Mochudi Centre Chiefs were among the few sides that registered victories away from home in the weekends CAF Champions League action.

Chiefs beat Mozambican side, Maxaquene 1–0 in Maputo to keep their hopes of progressing to the next round of the competition alive. Jerome Ramatlhakwana’s strike in the dying minutes of the game was enough to give Chiefs the much–needed away goal and most importantly, victory on foreign soil. Magosi is one of the few Botswana clubs to register away victories in continental football.

Chiefs, together with Gaborone United (GU) took bold decisions to take part in this year’s CAF competitions despite financial constraints. GU are in the CAF Confederations Cup. They go into the second leg of the competition with a huge advantage that should see them sail through. Besides Chiefs, the other clubs who won away from home are Tusker from Kenya, Vital’O of Burundi, St Georges from Ethiopia and Recreativo Libolo of Angola.
