Checkers Shock Wonder Sporting

First Division rookies, Kumakwane Checkers registered their second victory when they shocked hosts Wonder, Sporting 1-0 on Saturday.

The newboys first win was another shock result against fancied Mochudi Buffaloes. Checkers have been languishing at the bottom of the table with six points after three draws and one win in nine games. But on Saturday, they made critics eat humble pie when they defeated the more experienced Wonder Sporting.

Checkers' captain Badiri Sesiro led his troops to victory when he scored the only goal of the match in the first half. Checkers fought like wounded buffaloes and held on to lead until the end. In the second half, Checkers upped the tempo and put Wonder on the back foot. At some stage, the Checkers camped in the Wonder back yard but failed to score.
