Charity tourney raises P21, 000 for shooting victim

A basketball tournament held on Saturday to assist former player, Malebogo 'Max' Molefhe raised P 21, 243.

Molefhe is paralysed and wheelchair-bound after a shooting incident following an altercation with her boyfriend in 2009. Her friends in conjunction with the Botswana Basketball Association organised the tournament to raise funds to help her. The money was raised through gate takings and pledges from companies and individuals.

Six teams took part in the tournament played under the theme 'The Max Against Violence'. Molefhe made a brief appearance before the first game involving New School Ladies and Old School Ladies. It was a touching moment as fans stood up and applauded her arrival until she settled on the touchline.
