Callies seek revival

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Second Division side, Phikwe Callies is seeking to revive its tattered soccer fortunes after years in the doldrums.

For starters, the club has roped in former Mosquito coach, Chakalisa 'Chaks' Mahube to guide it back to the glory days.

Though it never campaigned in the national league, the club was a household name in the country in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It produced players who starred for the national team despite the fact that they were featuring in lower division soccer. Some of the famous names to don Callies colours are Phinda Mbereki, Steve Kilego, Ryder Jobe and Booster Moalosi.
