Butler dismantles Zebras old guard

New Zebras coach, Peter Butler has not wasted time in ringing changes after revealing that the national team will have a new back four during their next assignment. Butler, speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday was unequivocal when he said new faces would be brought in to replace an ageing backline, which served under Stanley Tshosane.

Centre backs Ndiyapo Letsholathebe and Mompati Thuma had made clear their intentions to retire. Thuma had stayed on while Letsholathebe threw in the towel. On the flanks, veteran utility player Tshepo ‘Talk Talk’ Motlhabankwe will get the axe, while it is unclear if there is a place for Gaborone United’s Edwin Olerile on the flank or Oscar Ncenga who has been used as a twin centre back.

Butler said from what he has gathered, the Zebras “were conceding silly goals”. This, he said, was the reason for the wholesome reshuffle.
