Mochudi Buffaloes once again showed that despite playing in the lower division, they have no respect for the big boys in the Coca-Cola Cup when they pushed Premier League side, Uniao Flamengo Santos all the way in the semi-finals before crashing out 6-5 in post-match penalty shoot-out.

The First Division side had fought Santos to a 2-2 standstill and the lottery of the shoot-out had to be applied to decide the winner. Though they lost to Santos, Buffaloes once again showed that they had not reached the semi-finals by fluke. Buffaloes' players matched the quality and class of their Premier League opponents. The Mochudi side was the first to be tested when goalkeeper Olah Tsae parried away a long-range effort from Oabile Tlhajwane in the 15th minute.

Buffaloes' first real attempt at goal saw them taking the lead in the 22nd minute through David Tsheko. The player hit a stunning shot from outside the area to score what is likely to be one of the best goals of the tournament. Veteran striker, Kgosietsile 'Parker' Mampori, who was a threat to Buffaloes' defence in the first half equalised a few minutes later when Tsae failed to handle a corner kick. Santos continued to pile more pressure and Buffaloes' goalkeeper was forced to make multiple saves. He parried away a beautiful header by Innocent Ranku in the 34th minute. Buffaloes always looked dangerous when going forward. The game was tied 1-1 at half time.
