Btv to screen softball final

State broadcaster, Botswana Television (Btv) will screen Sunday's Shell Softball League final that takes place at the National Diamond in Gaborone.

The men's finals will be staged exactly a fortnight after the women's finals were played. This weekend's event marks the final stage of the Shell League that kicked off last year in August after BSA penned a P300, 000 three-year deal with Shell Botswana.

BSA competitions organiser, Kelebogile Ditsele confirmed the screening of the final, saying it was a boost to the sport. "It's quite a big boost for softball because people who can't come to the stadium will get to watch the game on TV. It's also exciting because those in remote areas will watch the sport for the first time and possibly be interested in the game," Ditsele told Mmegi Sport. The competition started at zonal level with zones conducting their own one-round leagues as the association sought to rank teams at the end of the league for the follow-on stage, which brought together teams from the two zones.
