The Botswana Tennis Table Association (BTTA) will unveil its new logo tonight. The association's spokesperson, Game Mothibi said the old logo is outdated, hence they have come up with a new one.

She said the old logo has been in existence when table tennis was introduced in 1994 but since then, the sport has grown and need a new face. "Table tennis is a youthful sport. We want to align it with youth," she said. She added that they want a logo that can sell the sport and attract sponsorship. "We are fighting for sponsorships with other sports codes, hence it is important to come up with something that is interesting," she said.
In 2004 the government intervened to save the sport from slipping into the doldrums. Officials were accused of mismanaging funds and the minister dissolved the committee and replaced it with a body headed by Thuli Ntsatsi.

Mothibi believes the sport has in the recent times shown growth and maturity because it has 12 registered clubs and structures like a commission for coaches. BTTA managed to send a national team to the Zone Six games for the first time last year. The team brought home a silver medal.
