The Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) has distanced itself from the second annual BTC Francistown marathon scheduled for Sunday at the Francistown Sports Complex.

Speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday, BAA spokesperson Roland Masalila said the organising team, Fresh Brands marketing has failed to agree terms with BAA affiliate, the Francistown Athletics Club thus the association could not sanction the race.

“They (Fresh Brands) came to us seeking permission. We appointed the Francistown club to handle the negotiations. However, it appears that the organisers failed to meet some of the requirements, as of now BAA will not be part and puzzle of the event as things stand,” he said.
