The Botswana Softball Association (BSA), has lost out after the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) could not release fresh funds meant for the extension of the National Diamond.

BNSC was forced to re-claim the money after BSA failed to utilise the funds within the stipulated period. The P750, 000 released in 2010, was meant for the expansion of the National Diamond to pave the way for National Stadium developments. The BSA failed to use the funds by the end of financial year in December 2010.

But BSA appealed to the BNSC insisting the funds should not be treated like an annual grant, which has to be used within a specified period. BNSC promised to look into the matter, but last week told the BSA that it was not possible to reverse the decision.  BSA president, Marumo Morule, told Mmegi Sport yesterday that the BNSC could not make the funds available again, due to the prevailing financial situation.
