Briton undeterred by 'negative' media reports

Despite what he calls 'negative reports" from the local media, Britain's Pharell Medric seems to be on course with his planned football academy that he wants to establish in Botswana.

When contacted by Mmegi Sport for the first time on Wednesday, Medric said he was disappointed by the local media and therefore intended to stop talking to them. But he agreed to speak to Mmegi Sport on Thursday because he wants to contribute to the development of football in the country. He said he does not want to talk to the local media anymore for "misinterpretation" of his visit and his idea.

He said the whole purpose of his visit was to come up with a football academy that will help unearth young talent in Botswana. He mentioned that when he arrived some one whom he did not name introduced him to Bernard Mamelodi and then to Township Rollers' managing director Somerset Gobuiwang. He said he wants to meet people who appreciate and have the same passion for such projects in the country. Medric told Mmegi Sport that he is disappointed with people misinterpreting his intentions, adding that he is not after anyone's money. He said that all he wants from people is to bring their children.
