Bright might leave Dream Team

He is on the brinks of taking Botswana to the All Africa Games (AAG) fiesta for the first time. He has already led Botswana to its first ever group stage of the Olympic qualifiers and achieved first ever wins over Angola and Tunisia. But Under-23 coach David Bright might drop a different bombshell anytime. He can walk out of the side even today and the Botswana Football Association cannot stop him. And he will jump ship immediately if he gets a good offer because he does not have a contract with the BFA.

He would have left the Under-23 side sometimes back to join Township Rollers but they failed to agree on terms with the Premiership giants. "Some Township Rollers' officials did approach me recently. That is not a secret. But we could not reach an agreement," he said. There are reports that Lesotho is interested in hiring Bright as national coach.

A certain club in Namibia is also said to have indicated the desire to have him. He smiled and asked: "Where did you get that news?" when contacted about the reports. But he affirmed that since he is not under contract with BFA, he might leave when he gets a good offer. "There has been some enquiries from certain quarters that I cannot mention. But look, I have long alerted the local football authorities that since I am not contracted to them at the moment, I could leave the squad anytime I receive a firm offer. I have made it known that I no longer like to double as a national team coach and club coach like I used to do in the past," he explained.
