Bridge team leaves for Rustenburg Challenge

A team of 20 players from Botswana leaves today to take part in the annual Rustenburg Bridge Challenge in South Africa.

The tournament brings together bridge players from southern Africa, Australia and the United Kingdom. The Botswana Bridge Federation (BBF) public relations officer, Meshack Kgosidialwa said they prepared players well for the event that begins this evening.

He said the players are raring to go. "For the past three weeks, we have been training every Saturday and Monday, and the last week, we have been training on a daily basis," Kgosidialwa said. He added that the Rustenburg tournament serves to develop players and give them the much-needed exposure at international level. Some players in Botswana will be participating in their first international tournament in Rustenburg. "We are always assured of stiff competition at tournaments like this one and we hope the players will do well since they are well prepared," he Kgosidialwa said.
