'Boyo' Is Under- 20 Coach

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has appointed Oris 'Boyo' Radipotsane as the national Under-20 coach. He will be assisted by Miscellaneous coach, Mogomotsi 'Teenage' Mpote.

The first major assignment for the duo is the COSAFA games scheduled for South Africa in late November. Radipotsane told Monitor Sport at the weekend that he was delighted that the BFA has once again roped him in to lead a junior side. The Jwaneng Comets coach has worked with the national Under-17 and 23 and the senior team the Zebras. His latest appointment has not come as a surprise. The Under-20 team has been without a coach after Sthanda Mogwadi moved to the senior side as assistant to Briton Colwyn Rowe. For the past four years, the Under-20 side has failed to impress in the COSAFA competition despite the fact that it is has some of the best players in the country. Some people have blamed this on lack of proper guidance from the technical team.

There has been a feeling that maybe a change at the technical bench would turn the fortunes of the team for the better. "I accepted the job because it is a national calling. I've got confidence that with proper guidance, these boys can achieve the best," Radipotsane told Monitor Sport.  He said the team should not be put under pressure just because the Under-23 side and the Zebras are doing well. He said that it will be important to organise international friendly games before going to South Africa to test the character of the team in the COSAFA tournament.
