Boxing goes to the polls

Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) goes to the polls tomorrow at the Rasesa Lodge with indications that most officials might be returned unopposed.

By the time of going to press yesterday, BoBA spokesperson Willough Kemoen said most officials have indicated that they will defend their seats but nobody had come forward to seeking to challenge them.

The deadline for contestants to enter the race is today. Besides the elections, BoBA will hold its Annual General Meeting and consider constitutional amendments and its achievements so far. Kemoen said there is need to review Article 20 of the constitution that talks about votes of no confidence in office bearers. He said there is a general view that the constitution gives affiliates too much power to pass votes of no confidence. He asserted that it is important the constitution should protect everyone's rights. The AGM will seek to align the BoBA guiding document with that of the Association of International Boxing Associations (AIBA).
