A charged up national boxing team left yesterday for Yaounde, Cameroon to compete in the eight-day Africa Championships slated to start tomorrow. "Everyone in the team is charged up.

We have done our level best to prepare the boxers both mentally and physically and it is now for them to deliver in the ring, which we are very hopeful they will do," assistant coach Orapeleng Mosalakgotla said before the team's departure.

He stated that they have prepared the team well for the championships and they are optimistic the boxers will once again win medals. He explained that the technical team has worked hard to sharpen the boxers' tactical awareness as the country is blessed with very skilful and talented pugilists. The team has eight boxers under the leadership of coach Khumiso Ikgopoleng assisted by Mosalakgotla. The boxers qualified for the continental meet after reaching the medal stage of the Zone IV Boxing Championships hosted by Botswana last month. Mosalakgotla said they want the team to improve on its performance in the last edition of the Africa Boxing Championships held in Mauritius two years ago when Botswana got three medals.
