Botswana, Windies steal cricket limelight

The Botswana senior cricket team finally gave local fans something to relish on- a weekend the world watched in awe as a fired-up West Indies lifted the World T20 Cup in Sri Lanka.

After suffering successive heartbreaks in 2011 in which the local side failed to prevail in the ICC Division Seven league and the ICC-ACA Division Two T20 tournaments, the lads stirred to life and duly delivered qualification at a tournament held in Benoni South Africa last week.

Botswana finished top in a group of eight countries and are now promoted to the ICC-ACA Division One. The Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) and the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) will host a function to mark the achievement at the BCA Oval tomorrow evening.
