Botswana may host next month's Zone IV boxing championships after Namibia pulled out this week due to squabbles within the Namibia Boxing Federation (NBF).

The championships had initially been pencilled for March but NBF requested for a postponement to April 25 before changing dates to May 9. It has since emerged that the Namibian government had not given NBF the green light to host the event.

Botswana Boxing Association (BOBA) president, Michael Moroka, who is also Zone IV Boxing Federation boss, revealed that negotiations with the Botswana government to step in and host the event were at an advanced stage. BOBA have less than 10 days to prepare for the tournament at which 10 countries will be represented.
