Botswana thrashed South Africa in a boxing friendly tournament held at Glen Valley on Saturday.

Botswana coach, Khumiso Ikgopoleng, a 2002 All Africa Games bronze medallist, picked a relatively youthful side in a bid to try out new pugilists for the national team.

The rookies did not disappoint as they staged an impressive contest against their much-fancied visitors, winning eight of the 11 bouts. The hosts got off to a flying start, posting wins in the first three bouts with Bathusi Mogajane and international debutante Mooketsi Lekgetho edging South Africa's Lebogang Pilane and Nhlanhla Ngamntwini respectively.
