Botswana squash star shines in Egypt

England-based Botswana squash player, Alister Walker has made headlines at the PSA Tour Platinum Series in Cairo, Egypt after reaching the semi-finals of the event, which ended yesterday.

On his way to the semis, Walker shocked the squash fraternity after defeating three-time world champion, Amr Shabanawith.

He bowed out in the last four after losing 11-8, 11-2, 11-6 in 40 minutes to Karim Darwish. Walker has a Motswana mother and English father. He is currently ranked number 12 in the world. He was quoted in one squash website saying that against Darwish, he changed a few things about his game. "I guess he was expecting a slow start but that is the best squash I have ever played in terms of being positive, sharp and severe with my attacks," he explained to www.squashsite.co.uk. He said he was sure he will play some great squash and that is what he did in the third and fourth matches.
