Botswana continues good run in Mini-World Cup

Botswana all but booked a berth in the semi-finals of the Mini-Cricket World Cup after a six wicket thumping of India in an exciting match at the Gaborone Cricket Club on Friday.

The win propelled Botswana to the top of the standings and installed the hosts as favourites to walk away with the crown. The annual tournament features expatriate players residing in Botswana, who compete for their respective countries.

On Thursday night, Zimbabwe had made a strong case as they sought a second consecutive victory against Pakistan. Zimbabwe was elected to bat first and managed 162 for seven in their allotted 30 overs with Reginald Mavunde reaping 43 runs. Pakistan, who were determined to register their first win of the tournament, managed to surpass the total with three overs to spare. Pakistan won by eight wickets largely due to the exploits of man-of-the-match, Faisal Rana.
