Botswana clinches thriller to keep hopes alive

The Botswana cricket team chased down an imposing total to beat Germany by two wickets in a pulsating ICC Division Seven league match played at the BCA oval in Gaborone yesterday.

Set 229 to win in a reduced 47 overs' match, Botswana set about chasing the target although there were nervy moments along the way.

Botswana wrapped up the match with 11 balls to spare and Karabo Modise once again proved his worth with a well-played 62. Modise was man-of-the-match when Botswana beat Japan on Monday, starring with the ball after taking four wickets for just nine runs. Local all-rounder, Oma Ali scored a vital 45 to follow up his impressive bowling figures of three wickets for 43 runs in 10 overs.
