Boteti rookies stay afloat in Premier League

Premier League side, Boteti Young Fighters is not doing badly in their first season in top-flight soccer. The league is approaching the midway stage but the rookies are not languishing in the relegation zone.

Usually, clubs making a maiden appearance in the league tend to struggle and relegate. But the Letlhakane side is not doing badly and might survive the chop at the end of the season. Kenneth Mogae's charges opened their campaign on a high note by humiliating defending champions, ECCO City 3-0. Since then, the club has been making its presence felt in a performance that has earned it a middle position. Mogae says that the Coca-Cola Cup has helped them to prepare for the Premier League. The minnows reached the semis of the lucrative tournament where they lost 3-0 to ECCO. Mogae said the Coca-Cola games provided them with the necessary match practice. He stated that they did not lose players when they gained promotion to the Premier League. He added that they have reinforced the squad with experienced players like Master Mkhondo and Kgakgamatso Pharo from Flamengo Santos. In Zambian Derrick Ntumba, they have a good striker who is currently their top goal scorer.

Mogae said that as far as they are concerned, it has been mission accomplished in the Premier League. He said they have met their objective to acquire as many points as possible during the first round. "There is willingness and dedication to succeed," he said. He added that if they continue with the same spirit in the second half, they would not be relegated.
