FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Netball Association has reversed its decision not to play the second round of the My Spar My Botswana netball league. The second round was called off last month due to time constraints.

The decision to proceed with the second round follows the postponement of the championship finals from the end of October to November 12. The championship will be played in Gaborone. The northern zone netball spokesperson, Mercy Kololo said the return of the second round is important in keeping teams active while they wait for the finals.

“We welcome the second round,” she said. “It is very essential to keep our clubs active. It will also help clubs to keep shape for a more competitive championships that we all want to see. “Our clubs have, over time suffered shortage of competitive games and that situation cost our national league as players left to join the constituency leagues while others lost interest in the sport and that is a situation we must avoid by all means,” she said.
