BNSC reaps rich from awards

Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) hopes to make a kill from its annual awards sponsored by Barloworld. BNSC Marketing and Public Relations manager, Eunice Hirtchfield-Lawrence, said they are confident that for the first time they will rake in P120,000 or more from this year's awards.

Unlike previous years, the BNSC has gone all out to sell as many tickets as possible as a way of offsetting the cost of staging the event. About 300 tickets, costing P400 have been set aside for sale. Hirtchfield-Lawrence told Mmegi Sport on Wednesday that they have already sold half of the tickets in one week. "Indications are that they will all go. We have been receiving encouraging enquiries from the corporate world. Most of the tickets are being bought by companies which is quite good for the BNSC as they aspire to continually build relationships with  the corporate world  for the development of sport in the country," she said.  The BNSC official added that SuperSport has bought a table while SABC Africa has indicated the desire to come and shoot the event for their news. A table for the awards night costs P4,000.

President Festus Mogae will be among the guests. Sports officials from South Africa and Namibia are expected to attend. "We usually invite all the sports Chief Executive officers from the region and they never disappoint. In fact some have even asked us to share with them the trick of staging this event.
