The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) has said it is looking at a number alternatives to resolve the crisis caused by the resignation of the entire Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) executive committee last Saturday.

BNSC spokesperson Modipe Nkwe said the BoBA Annual General Meeting (AGM) is in June and hence there is a possibility that the BNSC might recommend the establishment of an interim committee. Alternatively, the BNSC might call for an early BoBA AGM to elect new officials.

Nkwe said they need time to look into the BoBA constitution to guide them. He promised that the BNSC will not drag its feet in resolving the issue. He added that they are also currently consulting with all stakeholders on the matter. "We want the issue to be resolved as soon as possible," Nkwe said. He explained that though there is no committee at BoBA, the day-to-day running of the association has not been affected. He said the boxing development officer Healer Modiradilo is taking care of BoBA affairs though he cannot take decisions reserved for the executive committee.
