The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) has stepped in to stabilise troubled affiliate, the Botswana Athletics Association (BAA).

In a press statement, BNSC chief executive officer, Kitso Kemoen has issued a roadmap to pacify and normalise operations at the rudderless association whose entire leadership was kicked out last Saturday. Under the roadmap, the BAA should have a full executive committee by June 11, the date the BNSC has called a special general meeting of the association. Kemoen explained that the new executive committee will be in office up to February 2015 or before in accordance with Section 8.1 and 8.4 of BAA constitution.

"Between now and the special general meeting of June 11, BAA staff will run the affairs of the association under the supervision of the BNSC management through the sports development manager, Lobone Kasale. Affiliates having issues with the staff in the BAA office are at liberty to contact the BNSC sports development manager with those issues," Kemoen said in the statement. The troubles in the BAA hit a new low last Saturday when the entire executive committee was sacked because its election last February was flawed.
