BNOC hunts for Chief Executive Officer

The Botswana National Olympics Committee (BNOC) is recruiting a chief executive officer to take over the running of the organisation from a board of volunteers. BNOC has been run by the volunteers since its inception.

BNOC secretary general, Moses Moruise said the organisation is growing and it needs a person who can run it on a full time basis. "We have grown and we should move away from depending on volunteers," he said.

He added that the running of the organisation by volunteers has created challenges. He said the volunteers work elsewhere and only attend to BNOC affairs in their free time. He added that the committee currently does not have a fully-fledged secretariat and that they are looking at employing more people once the chief executive officer has been hired.  BNOC currently has six employees. Moruise said BNOC does not have proper offices and the appointment of the chief executive is expected to rectify the situation.
