The first half began in a neutral level, with both teams struggling to control the match. A few minutes from the first whistle, BMC had an upper hand. Kenanao Kgetholetsile, a BMC striker, penetrated the TAFIC defence with ease.
The Meat Boys were impressive with fluid football, and pressured Tafic from the word go. A combination of Donald Mopako and Mosimanegape Ramohibidu created brilliant passes that found Kgetholetsile in a comfortable position to score BMC's first goal in the 22nd minutes. It seemed to have boosted the morale of the BMC boys.
