BMC overcome Police

BMC scrapped to a 1-0 victory over visiting Police XI in a be MOBILE Premier League match played at Lobatse stadium on Saturday.

Ezinkomo's supporters were looking forward to an interesting match after Hillary Madzivanyika tapped in a Kenanao Kgetholetsile cross in the 3rd minute.  Young defender Othusitse Mpharitlhe had  failed to close the striker down effectively and Ndiayapo Letsholathebe also  failed to deal with the resultant cross into the middle.

The game also promised a lot in the first 15 minutes as Police fought hard to level the scores while BMC looked relaxed and motivated to play an open game. However   the early sparks only lasted shortly. After  the heavy 7-2 defeat by Mochudi Centre Chiefs last week, Police XI showed a lot of character against BMC especially in defence as they  easily repelled their opponents' attempts to cause more damage.  Police coach Isiah Mogwadi have in recent games been using dimunitive midfielder Betsho Pius at right back but the switch back to his attacking role  seemed to give his team the edge going forward. Pius was unlucky in the 35th minute when his powerful shot went over the cross bar after beating Takudzwa Ndoro in BMC goal. But the absence of David Makakaba who was serving suspension made Pius vulnerable as he was often forced to go deep and collect and thus leaving his strike partner Farasayi Nyamunamwendo to muscle among the bully BMC defenders alone. With BMC also running out of ideas and often found wanting in defence Police tried to capitalise fully in the closing stages of the first half but goals were elusive as they tended to run out of ideas once in front of Ndoro.  From the break, the Jungle Kings looked more determined to hurt  their opponents, but their surge forward seemed to expose them at the back and Kgetholetsile catching them on the break in the 60th minute failed to increase BMC's lead with only Daniel Jim to beat much to the frustration of coach Daniel Nare. Police realising they had a good chance of salvaging something from the match introduced Dennis Kaelo for Uyapo Seleka in the 64th minute and the veteran midfielder nearly squeezed a point out of the opponents when his powerful shot in the 75th gave Ndoro problems and Nyamunamwendo trying to pick up the pieces also found fellow countryman in good form.
