BMC continue poor run as softball league starts

The Shell Softball League kicked-off over the weekend with indications that BMC will be the punching bags once again.

The Lobatse side lost all its matches at the UB Diamond in Gaborone on Saturday to continue a pathetic run from last season. In the first match, they got a 14-3 hammering from UB Giants and fell by a similar score to Panthers before a 15-0 thrashing by Vikings.

Against UB giants, BMC failed to last the distance courtesy of the run ahead rule. The duel only lasted four innings after UB scored 14 runs in four innings. The Lobatse side struggled a lot last season and looks likely to be the league's punching bags again after losing their opening three games. The wilted in the first match as UB fired three runs in quick succession in the opening inning before turning on the heat in the second inning with five. Their opponents' batting was pathetic and would not yield any runs early in the game.
