A month after competitive sporting activities were reopened in the country, motorsport is faced with a mountain to climb as their events are seen as a potential COVID-19 super spreaders.

The sport’s first attempt to return to action was dealt a major blow after the police denied the organising team a permit. Motorsport was to return to life for the first time in almost a year last week Saturday with the first of the Gaborone Motor Club (GMC) races.

The event dubbed Kopong200 was cancelled on the eve of the race as the police said the race had the potential of mass spreading the novel virus.
