The Botswana Football Association (BFA) president has promised to come up with ideas to address the problems of women football.

BFA president, David Fani said on Tuesday that it is encouraging to see women putting effort in their game though they still face many difficulties. He was speaking at the awards ceremony for the Pro-Guard women football tournament. Fani said he was impressed by clubs who took part in the tournament. After watching the competition, he realised that if given support, women can do better. He said supporters that turned up in large numbers for the tournament showed that they believed in women football.

Fani said there is need to address problems such as shortage of referees and venues in women football. "Even if we use sandy ground, it should be well prepared so that we show that we are serious about what we are doing," he said. Fani thanked Pro-Guard for sponsoring the tournament saying it has helped women to assess their game. However, there are some things that did not impress Fani in the tournament. He said it was clear during the games that some clubs did not prepare well. He encouraged the women to up their game to impress sponsors. He spoke against the indiscipline that has characterised women football.
