The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is close to announcing the appointment of Duncan Kgame, as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

According to sources close to developments, the BFA was expected to issue a statement on the appointment last week. Reports were that the BFA was negotiating with a mining company over the CEO's remuneration, but the association's vice president (administration), Boyce Sebetela disputed the claims. He, however, confirmed that a candidate had been identified, though he could not reveal the name. "We are still (working) on the issue. We have made a lot of progress and managed to identify a candidate.

We are going through logistics of how quickly we can get the (preferred) candidate," Sebetela said. He said the BFA would have to foot the CEO's salary bill, dismissing reports that the association is negotiating with a third party to meet the costs."No, its not true, the person (CEO) is our employee," Sebetela said. Kgame is a former Botswana Telecommunications (BTC) employee and reportedly got the nod ahead of former CEO, Thabo 'Styles' Ntshinogang. There were unconfirmed reports that there were divisions over the choice of CEO, with Ntshinogang preferred by some in the BFA panel. Ntshinogang could only confirm that he applied and has not been contacted regarding the post. Meanwhile, Sebetela said the BFA has not made progress regarding the announcement of the national team's technical sponsor. Last month, the BFA announced that it had extended All Kasi's contract until March 2012. However, since then there has not been much headway as the association had expected to make an announcement at the end of this month. But the deadline has been revised to mid-November, according to Sebetela."
